SIOUX BEADED BLANKET STRIP

Up for auction is a Sioux Beaded Blanket Strip. It measures just under 4 feet long. The medallions are 3" in diameter. The strip is about 2-1/2" wide. Interesting piece. This piece was sewn on canvas originally. It appears to be thread sewn. There is some missing beadwork. I believe this piece to date in the 1880's. Soldier tent canvas was popular in the day. The blanket strip has faded over the years and someone has taken a piece of commercial tanned leather and sewn the canvas to the leather.
